Privacy policy
This page explains how data is used when you visit GIFUZ or write to us.
Who is the data controller?
Gifuz Média, 33 rue Fred Scamaroni, 14000 CAEN, France, SIREN 539 184 622, is responsible for the processing described on this page. You can reach us through the contact form.
Your messages
The form collects your name or nickname (optional), email address, subject and message. The required fields help us understand and respond to your request. Without them, the form cannot be submitted.
This data is used to handle your request, based on our legitimate interest in responding to people who contact us. Requests to exercise data rights are handled to meet our legal obligations. The form does not subscribe you to a newsletter.
Messages are emailed to the team responsible for inquiries. They are kept for as long as necessary to handle and follow up on the exchange, then deleted when no longer useful, subject to a legal obligation or the need to defend a legal right.
GIF reports
The "Report this GIF" form collects the relevant GIF, the reason, a description and, if provided, an additional link. An email address is optional for an ordinary report. For claims concerning copyright, privacy or image rights, an email address, name or organization and the claimant's capacity are needed to assess the request and contact you.
Reports are stored in a private area of the site accessible to authorized administrators. An email notification alerts them without reproducing your description or contact details. This information is used to process and follow up on the report, under the purposes and retention principles described above. A report does not automatically remove the GIF.
To limit abuse, the form uses a temporary technical fingerprint derived from the IP address and submission counters, valid for no more than one hour after the last attempt. The IP address is not recorded in the report file. The hosting provider's technical logs are described below. To exercise your rights regarding a report, use the contact form.
Protecting forms against spam
GIFUZ uses WP Armour and server-side checks to limit automated and repeated submissions to contact, reporting, comment and account-related forms. These protections are based on our legitimate interest in maintaining the site's operation and security. WP Armour performs a browser check: JavaScript must be enabled. No external CAPTCHA service is used for these checks.
Submission limits use a temporary fingerprint derived from the IP address. Associated counters expire within one hour; fingerprints used to detect a previously sent contact message expire after 15 minutes. GIFUZ's protection does not store raw IP addresses, passwords or message copies in these counters. Reports and messages themselves are handled according to the rules above. The hosting provider's logs are described below.
Viewing statistics
With your consent, Post Views Counter counts visits to pages and GIFs. A cookie helps limit repeated counting of the same page over 24 hours. These counters are used in particular for the "Most viewed GIFs" ranking. They are hosted on the site; this counter does not create advertising profiles. View totals are retained to maintain the ranking.
You can refuse these statistics without losing access to GIFs, then change your choice at any time.
Operation and technical providers
Hosting and securing the site involves processing technical data in server logs, including IP addresses, connection dates, browser details and requested pages. This processing serves the legitimate interest of maintaining the service's operation and security. Retention depends on the technical purpose and the hosting provider's applicable obligations.
The site is hosted by Infomaniak in Switzerland. The people handling inquiries and authorized technical providers may access the data necessary for their work. Fonts are currently loaded from Google Fonts: the browser contacts Google's servers and sends, in particular, the IP address and technical information needed to load them. For more information, see Google's privacy policy.
Sharing on social networks
The sharing buttons are links. The selected service opens only when you click a button. Your use of that service is then subject to its own privacy policy.
Your rights
Depending on your situation and the processing concerned, you may request access to, correction or deletion of your data, restriction of processing, object to processing or request portability where that right applies. Consent to statistics can be withdrawn at any time without affecting the lawfulness of earlier processing.
To exercise your rights, use the contact form with the subject "Personal data." Do not send an identity document without being asked; additional information may be requested only where necessary to verify your identity.
If you believe your rights have not been respected, you may lodge a complaint with the CNIL.
